# Manchester United hold Alexis Mac Allister talks

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) have held internal discussions over signing Brighton midfielder [Alexis Mac Allister](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/alexis-mac-allister/), according to [Ben Jacobs](https://mobile.twitter.com/JacobsBen).**

### The Lowdown: Mac Allister impressing

Mac Allister, lauded as a ‘[golden boy](https://twitter.com/ryanadsett/status/1604845824852299777?s=20&t=n5QOVI6MgB0XiecXZw9ZaA)‘ by journalist Ryan Adsett for his performances at the World Cup with Argentina, has been starring for the Seagulls in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/).

The 24-year-old, who can [play](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-mac-allister/leistungsdaten/spieler/534033) as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder, scored a penalty and registered an assist in a 4-0 win over West Ham on the weekend and was the best-rated player on the pitch with a [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/west-ham-brighton-and-hove-albion/FsM) rating of 8.5/10.

He has seen his [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-mac-allister/profil/spieler/534033) valuation rocket in recent months to a career-best €42m and appears to have caught the eye of those at Old Trafford.

### The Latest: United update

[CaughtOffside](https://mobile.twitter.com/caughtoffside/status/1633100514580738052) took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to share an update from Jacobs regarding Mac Allister.

He said that United have now held internal discussions over a move for the Brighton man, with £60m+ thought to be enough for his services.

### The Verdict: Perfect

The Red Devils appear to be busy preparing for the summer window, with contact also made to [Harry Kane](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manchester-united-contact-harry-kanes-transfer-news/) in recent days, whereas [Victor Osimhen](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-set-sights-on-victor-osimhen-as-four-man-shortlist-revealed/) is also on the shortlist of attacking targets.

A new forward and a versatile midfielder like Mac Allister could be just what is required, with the Brighton man going from strength to strength in England.

He is [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-arsenal-man-united-and-man-city-join-alexis-mac-allister-race-hes-ready-to-go/) ‘ready to go’ to a bigger club this summer and would provide [Erik ten Hag](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/erik-ten-hag/) with a quality option in a number of midfield roles.

[Mac Allister](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/211/Show/England-Brighton) has comfortably outperformed Marcel Sabitzer, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay and Fred this season, as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/32/Show/England-Manchester-United), so could form a formidable relationship alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.
