[![de gea222](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/de-gea222-500x324.jpg)It was reported](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/david-de-gea-given-fresh-6376194)that in a shocking turn of events, Manchester United are likely to offer David De Gea a new contract as the Spaniard desperately needs to play first-team football to cement his place in the national team.

Well today, this U-turn from United, after they looked set to sell the player has got even bigger! [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/david-de-gea-given-fresh-6376194)have got heads in a spin with their reports that goalkeeper David De Gea will be given a chance to redeem himself under Louis van Gaal, regardless of whether he signs a new deal or not!

This has come as a real shock to a lot of the Manchester United supporting lads in the Tavern, when just days ago it looked like De Gea would be getting a move away from the club, after spending the start of the season marginalised from the playing squad.
