# Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes imminent signing has supporters bewildered over first January transfer

**According to an [official club announcement](https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/1222563698633592833), Manchester United are close to finally completing a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, with only personal terms and a medical left to complete – leaving a lot of Red Devils fans completely stunned by the news.**

Fernandes, who has long been at the centre of a transfer saga over whether he will make the switch to Old Trafford, with some reports from as long ago as last summer ([Daily Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1159141/Man-Utd-Transfer-News-Paulo-Dybala-Bruno-Fernandes-Paul-Pogba-Gossip-Latest)), could finally be moving to Manchester providing there are no last-minute surprises. The Portuguese playmaker, who has racked up a prolific 15 goals in 14 games for Sporting Lisbon this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bruno-fernandes/profil/spieler/240306)), is seen as a potential creative threat that can inject much-needed quality into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield.

Compared to current United force Paul Pogba, Fernandes hasn’t managed to equal the Frenchman’s superior pass completion rate of [82.8%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/97752/History/Paul-Pogba) – but does better the rest of his creative stats from last season. This includes shots ([3.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/123761/Show/Bruno-Fernandes)), dribbles ([3.7](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/123761/Show/Bruno-Fernandes)) and key passes per game ([1.8](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/123761/Show/Bruno-Fernandes)), as [per WhoScored.com.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/123761/Show/Bruno-Fernandes)

As a result, supporters cannot believe they could be on the verge of landing their dream signing as well as ‘looking at other targets’ ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51286118)) – find all of their best comments from Twitter down below.
