# Manchester United: Casemiro could start vs Everton

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) manager Erik ten Hag could hand Casemiro a first [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) start against Everton on Sunday.**

### The Lowdown: Europa League appearances

Casemiro, labelled a [‘warrior’](https://weallfollowunited.com/2022/08/24/varane-full-of-praise-for-manchester-united-signing-casemiro/amp/) by teammate Raphael Varane and hailed for his [‘quality’](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/9465615/paul-scholes-slammed-fans-casemiro-man-utd/) by Paul Scholes, has had to remain patient after joining from Real Madrid in the summer.

The 30-year-old has played just [82](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/casemiro/leistungsdaten/spieler/16306) minutes of league action for the Red Devils and has had to rely mainly on Europa League action.

He made his [second](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/casemiro/leistungsdaten/spieler/16306) Europa League start in Thursday’s 3-2 win over Omonia Nicosia, and the Brazilian may now be rewarded with a start in the top flight.

### The Latest: Everton start?

Journalist Nick Emms shared a preview for [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/20025906/everton-vs-man-utd-live-stream-tv-channel-team-news-kick-off-time-premier-league/) ahead of United’s trip to Goodison Park.

When it came to team news, he said that ‘Casemiro could be handed a start against the Toffees’.

### The Verdict: For Eriksen?

Ten Hag once again named an unchanged side in the Premier League last time out, however, the club’s four-match winning streak came to an abrupt end at the Etihad against Manchester City.

Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen were once again selected in midfield, with the former of the two actually United’s best-rated starter, as per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/manchester-united-manchester-city/rK), so could possibly keep his place in the team.

Eriksen [struggled](https://www.sofascore.com/manchester-united-manchester-city/rK) in the 6-3 defeat however, so perhaps he could make way for Casemiro, especially as the Denmark international played [90 minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdaten/spieler/69633) on Thursday and provides less solidity in front of the defence.
