# Manchester United: Red Devils chiefs hopeful Christian Eriksen will join

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) chiefs have ‘hope’ Christian Eriksen will make the move to Old Trafford, [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jun/29/frenkie-de-jong-open-to-joining-manchester-united-after-fee-agreed-barcelona-tyrell-malacia) report.**

### The Lowdown: Transfer ball rolling

The Red Devils appear to be finally getting things in place ahead of Erik ten Hag’s first season in charge.

[Reports](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-de-jong-malacia-24348639) have suggested that deals have been agreed in principle for both Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.

United are also thought to be [‘working hard’](https://www.givemesport.com/88027451-man-utd-now-working-hard-to-sign-60m-forward-at-old-trafford) to sign Ajax winger Antony and previously made an [offer](https://twitter.com/david_ornstein/status/1536706343003901962?s=21&t=LYHH_GFDaU6In-j1Y8QJDw) to attacking midfielder Eriksen.

### The Latest: Eriksen update

[The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jun/29/frenkie-de-jong-open-to-joining-manchester-united-after-fee-agreed-barcelona-tyrell-malacia) shared a transfer update regarding United on Wednesday evening, name-checking De Jong, Malacia and Antony.

They also provided news on Eriksen however, claiming ‘there is hope at United that Eriksen could join after previously signalling a preference to remain in London’.

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

Things are seemingly falling into place off the pitch, with De Jong and Malacia set to bolster the club’s central midfield and left-back ranks respectively.

A move for Antony would also provide Ten Hag with a senior right-winger ahead of the new season, something he currently [doesn’t have](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/kader/verein/985).

Eriksen could be the cherry on top of the cake at Old Trafford, with Gary Neville labelling the attacking midfielder’s passing as ‘[out of this world](https://metro.co.uk/2022/05/26/man-utd-legend-gary-neville-tells-liverpool-to-sign-christian-eriksen-16712452/)‘ back in May.

He’d provide plenty of competition to Bruno Fernandes and would also be able to play [out wide](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/69633) if required, so fingers crossed United can get a free transfer over the line.
