# Manchester United: Red Devils ‘looking at’ Cody Gakpo

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are ‘looking at’ the possibility of signing PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo in 2023, confirms Sky Sports reporter [Dharmesh Sheth](https://twitter.com/skysports_sheth).**

### The Lowdown: Second time lucky?

The Dutchman still has [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/psv-eindhoven/berateruebersicht/verein/383) years remaining on his contract in the Eredivisie, but after being the standout performer over the last 12 months, has been attracting attention from across Europe.

The [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) giants expressed a strong [interest](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/30778/12552939/manchester-united-want-cody-gakpo-joao-palhinha-in-summer-double-swoop-paper-talk) in the 23-year-old over the summer, and despite failing to land him, the Red Devils appear to be considering taking a second bite of the cherry.

### The Latest: United monitoring Gakpo

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/skysports_sheth/status/1603050303015763970?s=46&t=LVzsMXVPsu6ta7-wHSjgcw), Sheth confirmed that United are monitoring Gakpo ahead of a potential move, whilst also delivering an update on the club’s pursuit of targets in another area of the pitch.

“Manchester United looking at forwards – including Cody Gakpo – and right-backs, but ‘significant chance’ no incomings in January.

“Right-back incoming likely to depend on Wan-Bissaka future. United conscious of complying with FFP. Loan market being explored too.”

### The Verdict: Get it done…

Gakpo has been [dubbed](https://twitter.com/ftalentscout/status/1494400113111883784?s=46&t=q_GjJnGxfv2UVghBwx7ZQA) ‘De Herdgang’s Finest’ by [Jacek Kulig](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout)and “[sensational](https://twitter.com/nyannthierry/status/1597614569085882368)” by sports writer Thierry Nyann , and should the opportunity to sign him arise, this is a no-brainer of a deal to complete.

The winger has already clocked up a remarkable [30](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdaten/spieler/434675) goal contributions in just 24 appearances across all competitions this season and is averaging [3.6](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/352825/Show/Cody-Gakpo) shots per league game.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure has left a huge void in the final third that needs filling, and Gakpo would be the perfect man to come in and do just that.
