# Manchester United: Dean Henderson’s penalty save from Gabriel Jesus has Red Devils fans applauding

**During bitter cross-town rivals Manchester City’s [1-0 victory](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCQvwiByYO0) away to Sheffield United on Tuesday evening, Manchester United supporters marvelled at loanee keeper Dean Henderson’s performance as he saved an early penalty from Gabriel Jesus – which also prompted a [media debate](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51200953) over whether he could eventually replace David De Gea.**

Henderson has contributed immensely to a resolute Blades defence so far this campaign, with Chris Wilder’s men conceding the [joint-second fewest](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) amount of goals out of any Premier League side. The English shot-stopper is also currently locked in a battle with Ben Foster and Kasper Schmeichel for most clean sheets in the league, with all three keepers having kept eight so far ([Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/clean_sheet)) – twice as many as current Red Devils first choice David De Gea. As a result, some sections of the media ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51200953)) have begged the question, should the 22 year-old be given a shot at Euro 2020 under Gareth Southgate?

United supporters, in particular, were in awe over the keeper following his heroics, with one suggesting he is [‘better than De Gea’](https://twitter.com/ogbasaeed/status/1219713017883086852?s=21) – especially taking into consideration his superior save percentage of 74.68% compared to the Spaniard’s 60.32%, as [per the BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51200953). > Love that quote from him not long ago. Something along the lines of “I’d give my right arm to play for that club.” Has to be #1 soon
