# Manchester United: Dimitar Berbatov sheds light on Anthony Martial, prompting fan reactions

**Dimitar Berbatov has spoken about the part he played in Anthony Martial’s move to Manchester United.**

The Red Devils duo played together at Ligue 1 side Monaco until Ed Woodward made a move for the Frenchman in [2015](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-martial/profil/spieler/182877). Berbatov revealed he recommended Martial to a United scout prior to his departure.

Speaking to [talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/), the 39-year-old said: “the United head scout called me, he was like, Berbs, we are looking at this kid Martial and wanted to ask what you think.

“I told him this boy is unbelievable, the things he can do. He can be a great player, he just needs someone to guide him on the pitch.”

He jokingly added: “of course, I’m still waiting for my commission!”

After arriving at Old Trafford from the Red and Whites for [£54m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-martial/profil/spieler/182877), Martial has made over 200 appearances for United, scoring 64 goals and providing 34 assists in all competitions so far. His current market value is rated at £43.2m via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-martial/profil/spieler/182877).

The 24-year-old has played in 23 games in the Premier League for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, bagging 11 goals, picking up 3 assists, taking 2.6 shots per game and successfully completing 1.5 dribbles on average (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/122366/Show/Anthony-Martial)).

Whether or not Martial can emulate the [prolific](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dimitar-berbatov/profil/spieler/65) club legend remains to be seen but he is certainly on the right track at the moment.

One fan tweeted “ballers recognise ballers” in response to Berbatov’s “unbelievable” comments.
