**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are still working on a new deal for youngster Alejandro Garnacho, [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1585945145572151297) reports.**

### The Lowdown: Garnacho against Sheriff Tiraspol

Garnacho made his [first](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/alejandro-garnacho-sparkles-on-full-senior-debut-against-sheriff-tiraspol-27-october-2022#:~:text=Alejandro%20Garnacho%20was%20awarded%20his,3%2D0%20at%20Old%20Trafford.) senior start for the Red Devils on Thursday evening against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.

The 18-year-old started on the left-hand side and actually outperformed big-money signing Antony, as per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/fc-sheriff-tiraspol-manchester-united/Ksydc). Garnacho ended with a match rating of 6.7/10, registering one key pass, completing three dribbles and winning seven duels.

### The Latest: Contract update

[Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1585945145572151297), who previously said that Garnacho is regarded as a [‘huge talent’](https://twitter.com/fabrizioromano/status/1535552019762642944?s=21&t=TJgqoyHJbDbXLRQoFtyeaw), took to Twitter on Friday morning to share an update on contract talks with the winger.

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

Garnacho has clearly caught the eye of Erik ten Hag at Carrington for the United boss to give him a first start, so hopefully, fresh terms can be finalised sooner rather than later.

The attacker has now made [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/leistungsdaten/spieler/811779) senior appearances this season and appears to be going from strength to strength. He has missed just [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alejandro-garnacho/leistungsdaten/spieler/811779) Premier League matchday squads under Ten Hag, and with his current deal expiring next summer, United officials may want to look to push through a contract before the New Year.
