# Manchester United: Fans bash Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s remarks on goalkeeping department ahead of Astana clash

**Manchester United’s penultimate Europa League group game [could see them qualify as winners](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/europa-league/table) heading into the round of 32, giving them their pick of second-placed teams and gaining a huge advantage in their bid to win the competition, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s recent remarks over their goalkeeping strength have fans scratching their heads.**

It’s well documented that Solskjaer is [playing his youth card](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/10438556/meet-man-utd-astana-laird-levitt-bernard/) for tonight’s match in Kazakhstan, with many academy graduates set to make their first-team debuts – including a potential appearance [from cancer survivor](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/max-taylor-formerly-max-dunne-responds-successfully-to-cancer-treatment) Max Taylor.

This is testament to the model that Sir Alex Ferguson left behind, which was to consistently show faith in the [youngsters](https://talksport.com/football/633202/sir-alex-ferguson-jose-mourinho-tottenham-academy/) coming through within the club, with many fans concurring with the decision – but the Norwegian’s comments on their goalkeeping department have seemed to confuse some supporters.

Speaking [ahead of the encounter](https://twitter.com/utdreport/status/1199688214623203328?s=21), Solskjaer was full of praise for fringe shot-stopper Lee Grant, and went on to hint that he has the ‘perfect’ goalkeeping department.

Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter:

> Yes, you’ve got a perfect goalkeeping department but the midfielder department needs a lot of work Ole… Ever thought of that?

> Lol. Jones was equally ‘terrific’ in training, remember? Till he dropped that disaster class over the weekend.
