# Manchester United: Fans batter ‘abysmal’ Daniel James after Liverpool display

**Following Manchester United’s [2-0 defeat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3bAIbH3jcw&feature=onebox) to Liverpool on Sunday, Red Devils supporters have been up in arms over youngster Daniel James’ display at Anfield – taking to social media and hammering the Welshman for his seemingly minuscule contribution to proceedings.**

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side fell behind when Virgil Van Dijk blasted a header past the on-looking David De Gea to give the home side a deserved lead, with United arguably fortunate to get away with not conceding a second when VAR intervened with Roberto Firmino’s goal due to a foul on the Spanish keeper.

From there, United had huge moments, with both Andreas Pereira and Anthony Martial missing [golden opportunities](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3bAIbH3jcw&feature=onebox) to equalise for the Red Devils. Unfortunately for them, efforts to make it 1-1 proved fruitless, with Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah breaking away to make it 2-0 in the last minute.

According to some United supporters, James should’ve fouled the Egyptian to halt his chances of scoring in on goal, with a lot of them taking to social media and hammering his [‘average’](https://twitter.com/clayasd/status/1218962913421156352?s=21) displays recently.

The 22-year-old, who had the worst [WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376136/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Liverpool-Manchester-United) rating out of any Red Devils player ([5.9](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376136/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Liverpool-Manchester-United)), also didn’t manage a [single shot](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376136/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Liverpool-Manchester-United) on goal in place of the[injured](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11912760/marcus-rashford-out-for-a-few-weeks-with-back-injury-says-ole-gunnar-solskjaer) Marcus Rashford – perhaps giving some credit to the claims he had a poor afternoon.
