# Manchester United: Fans blast links with Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek

**According to a [report from ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4029286/man-united-consider-move-for-ajaxs-van-de-beek-sources), Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is [‘considering’](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4029286/man-united-consider-move-for-ajaxs-van-de-beek-sources) a move for Ajax attacking midfielder Donny van de Beek – with the Red Devils boss reportedly keen to land January reinforcements ahead of their bid to qualify for a Champions League place.**

\[freshpress-poll id=”271751″\]

He was integral to Ajax’s surprising run to the semi-finals of the competition last season, before being [dramatically knocked out](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xykJYYgohSE&feature=onebox) by Spurs, has continued his form for the Dutch champions this campaign also – with United reportedly keeping a close eye on his progress.

[Reportedly](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/manchester-united-news-transfer-arsenal-james-maddison-jack-grealish-january-latest-a9267416.html) in search of a new attacking midfielder, United could secure a superior alternative to the likes of Fred and Jesse Lingard, even though both players are currently averaging a[better pass success](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/32/Show/England-Manchester-United) rate than the Dutchman’s [83%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/275035/Show/Donny-van-de-Beek) in the Eredivisie.

Despite his lesser passing stats, van de Beek wildly beats the Red Devils’ current crop of midfielders in terms of goals and assists – racking up [six strikes and assisting four others](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/275035/Show/Donny-van-de-Beek) in the league compared to Fred and Lingard’s [none](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/32/Show/England-Manchester-United).

However, given the [amount of rumours](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1225151/Man-Utd-Transfer-News-Live-Updates-Boubakary-Soumare-Fixtures-Team-News-Gossip-Latest) flying around during the window, United supporters have appeared to adopt a cynical scepticism when it comes to this report.

Here’s how they blasted the rumour on Twitter.
