# Manchester United: Fans drool over prospect of signing Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare

**According to an update from [RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi via Tribuna](https://tribuna.com/en/manutd/news/3542003/), Manchester United could be one of many Premier League clubs well in the race to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare – with the youngster seen in the past as a [‘potential heir’](https://tribuna.com/en/manutd/news/3497029/) to Paul Pogba.**

Soumare, who has amassed a thoroughly impressive[89.9%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/345664/Show/Boubakary-Soumar%C3%A9) (per WhoScored) pass success rate in Ligue 1 so far this campaign, is also attracting the interest of Arsenal, Chelsea, Atletico and Real Madrid – highlighting his great potential at such a young age.

The 20-year-old has attracted these prestigious suitors through his [‘strength on/off the ball’](https://soccersouls.com/why-manchester-united-should-sign-boubakary-soumane/) (via SoccerSouls) and his dynamic passing from midfield, prompting many critics to [compare him to Pogba (per Goal).](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/boubakary-soumare-lille-man-utd-pogba/1ppp73356hy1f1qj4le53znhq5)

In comparison, whilst Pogba eclipses the youngster in terms of assists, bagging [two more](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/97752/Show/Paul-Pogba) than him this campaign in far fewer appearances, the Red Devils midfielder has mustered a lesser passing stat with just [82.8%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/97752/Show/Paul-Pogba) completed.

As a result, some United fans see the merit in his signing, taking to Twitter and hoping they bring him to Old Trafford – here’s what they had to say.

> If they are open to sell him and we don’t buy because we are waiting for British version of him then I will completely lose it. We need to buy the best we can

> He looked quality against Chelsea, looks a good young player and would improve us straight away. Him plus grealish in January would suffice till the summer and whether it’s ole or another man to take us further we can start our rebuild.
