# Manchester United: Fans fume at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decision to bench Edinson Cavani versus Southampton

**Lots of Manchester United fans have been fuming at the decision by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bench Edinson Cavani versus Southampton for their game in the Premier League.**

Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood started up top for the Red Devils with Anthony Martial out of the squad altogether.

Behind them is a diamond of Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Fred and Bruno Fernandes in midfield, with a back four of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire and Alex Telles in front of David de Gea in between the posts.

Dean Henderson, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams, Dan James and Juan Mata make up the bench along with Cavani.

The Uruguay international would have offered a big goal threat from the start having scored a very impressive [393](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/edinson-cavani/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/48280) goals combined at both senior club and international level, but Solskjaer has elected to leave him on the bench.
