# Manchester United: Fans laud Scott McTominay after positive stat revealed

**Manchester United fans have heaped [praise](https://twitter.com/statmandave/status/1201833460375019520?s=12) on midfielder Scott McTominay after his performances during the current campaign.**

The Scotland international, 22, has become an integral part of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad due to the injury of influential player Paul Pogba and has stepped up to the plate for the Red Devils.

[Beloved](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/andy-mitten-column-praise-scott-mctominay-beloved-mourinho-blooming-under-solskjaer) by former boss Jose Mourinho, the Scotsman has maintained his place in the side despite the sacking of the Portuguese manager last December, with Solskjaer [describing](https://metro.co.uk/2019/11/01/ole-gunnar-solskjaer-singles-scott-mctominay-praise-ahead-bournemouth-clash-11024606/) him as a “leader”.

Former United midfielder Darren Fletcher said that McTominay [reminded](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-darren-fletcher-mctominay-17174838) him of himself during his time at Old Trafford after he was impressed with his displays.

To substantiate the duo’s words, a statistic was revealed prior to the Tottenham game that suggested McTominay was key to the way that United play.

> Manchester United have averaged 0.8 goals conceded per game this season when Scott McTominay has played, compared to 2.3 when the Scotsman has been absent.

Supporters credited McTominay for his performances during the current campaign and made their feelings clear on social media.
