A phenomenon among some United supporters has risen over the past two weeks, with a [consensus steadily rising](https://metro.co.uk/2019/12/16/robin-van-persie-jokingly-accuses-mason-greenwood-copying-playing-style-11917972/) that Greenwood replicates Van Persie’s playing style in the forward role – holding similar attributes to the Dutchman.

Van Persie, who scored [26 goals and assisted 15 others](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robin-van-persie/leistungsdaten/spieler/4380/saison/2012/wettbewerb/GB1) in his debut season at Old Trafford after moving from Arsenal for [£24 million](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/19179833), was a highly loved figure in the red half of Manchester for his prolific nature before he eventually left the club in [2015 for Fenerbahce.](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/oct/19/robin-van-persie-sir-alex-ferguson-manchester-united-fenerbahce)

Now, some supporters have come to the conclusion that Greenwood is the second coming of ‘RVP’ – with the 36-year-old echoing these sentiments on social media.

Here’s how fans reacted to Van Persie’s statement.
