# Manchester United: Fans on Twitter beg club to sign Timo Werner this summer

**While Odion Ighalo may turn out to be a success for Manchester United there is little doubt that scrambling around trying to sign a striker on deadline day was far from ideal for the Red Devils. With that in mind, supporters on Twitter last night were urging the club to leap into transfer action when it comes to RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.**

The German, who scored against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League last night, has bagged [20](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/130903/Show/Timo-Werner) goals in the Bundesliga this season as RB Leipzig hunt down Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, has actually previously admitted (per [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/manchester-united-fan-timo-werner-still-dreams-premier/1opaftarro22a10d2v5sm0nmjm)) he supported United as a boy and his performance in North London prompted sections of the support online to beg for his signature.

Ighalo is only on loan until the end of the season and, outside of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, United aren’t blessed with long-term options when it comes to leading the line – hence the need to sign the Nigerian in the first place. Furthermore, [FootMercato](https://www.footmercato.net/premier-league/transferts/info-fm-manchester-united-prepare-une-offre-pour-moussa-dembele_272123) reported earlier this year that the Premier League giants had actually made a bid, only to see their advances snubbed at that point in time.

With that in mind, here’s a look at how fans reacted last night.

> United need to do everything to get Werner because if he goes Liverpool they'll be dominating for years. He's that good
