# Manchester United: Fans rave about Fred’s performance vs Astana

**It may have taken [148 days](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-fred-news-solskjaer-16950197), but midfielder Fred finally got a start for Manchester United last night in the Europa League.**

The Brazilian, who had been limited to a [23-minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fred/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/191614/wettbewerb/GB1/saison/2019) cameo in the Premier League prior to last night’s clash against Kazakhstan Premier League outfit Astana, impressed many with his display at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old got the assist for Mason Greenwood’s second-half goal, which proved to be the decider as United ran out narrow 1-0 winners, and also registered the most touches, most passes, most recoveries and most chances created (per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1427150/LiveStatistics/Europe-UEFA-Europa-League-2019-2020-Manchester-United-FC-Astana)), among other things throughout the game.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pleased with Fred’s performance last night, saying after the game:

“He’s getting better and better, fitter and fitter and it’s great to see he’s confident enough on the ball.

“And he’s a tenacious little midfielder, he’s good on and off the ball. And he’ll come good for us.” (Via [Manchester Evening News](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-fred-news-solskjaer-16950197)).

United fans were also buzzing with the South American’s performance, taking to Twitter to voice their opinions on the former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder:
