# Manchester United: Fans react as club close in on van de Beek signing

**There has been an update on the possible transfer of Donny van de Beek to Manchester United and it’s safe to say that a lot of the Red Devils fan base are excited by the news.**

According to [@MikeVerweij](https://twitter.com/MikeVerweij) in de telegraaf and tweeted out by [utdreport](https://twitter.com/utdreport/status/1300138044260077569?s=20), van de Beek will leave Ajax for United and will sign a five-year contract. The transfer fee is around €45m (£40.3m) including bonuses and the paperwork and medical is set to follow imminently.

It has been reported in the [past](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/man-utd-target-donny-van-de-beek-if-aston-villa-refuse-drop-grealish-price) that the Dutch international is a player that [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/man-utd-target-donny-van-de-beek-if-aston-villa-refuse-drop-grealish-price) would love to have in his midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes.

This would really make the midfield trio a threat to all opposition defences, proven by the Dutchman’s stats as the 23-year-old had a very good season in 2019/20, managing to pick up [10 goals and 11 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donny-van-de-beek/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/288255) in all competitions whilst averaging 1.9 shots, 1.8 key passes and two tackles a game, per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/275035/Show/Donny-van-de-Beek) – this shows that he can make a big impact all over the pitch.

Van de Beek’s statistics suggest that he is a well-rounded midfielder and he was part of the [Ajax side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donny-van-de-beek/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/288255) that reached the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018/19 season, so United could have found themselves a very good player to try and help them challenge for the title next season.

Here is what fans said following the news:
