# Manchester United: Fans react to Jesse Lingard update

**Newcastle United have made a “generous and extremely tempting” offer for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.**

That’s according to [The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/01/20/newcastle-close-permanent-jesse-lingard-deal-frustration-grows/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1642701722), and a number of United fans have been giving their thoughts to the news on social media.

Lingard is out of contract at Old Trafford in the [summer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) and has made just [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) starts all season. He’s recently been linked with Newcastle, [Tottenham](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12513849/jesse-lingard-tottenham-approach-man-utd-midfielders-representatives-over-summer-transfer) and [West Ham](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1552681/Man-Utd-transfers-West-Ham-Jesse-Lingard-Newcastle-Premier-League), with the former of the three pushing to land the 29-year-old.

According to [Edwards](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/01/20/newcastle-close-permanent-jesse-lingard-deal-frustration-grows/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1642701722), Newcastle had a loan bid turned down earlier in the week but have now returned with a “generous and extremely tempting” offer.

[Edwards](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/01/20/newcastle-close-permanent-jesse-lingard-deal-frustration-grows/?utm_content=football&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1642701722) adds that United could be able to make around £12m for Lingard, who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer labelled as [‘brilliant’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10006647/Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-showers-Jesse-Lingard-praise-midfielders-zero-hero-week.html), however, the England international isn’t considering a permanent move at this moment in time.
