The Red Devils have had a far from impressive start this term, winning only two of their opening eight league games, with many fans now calling for current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be [sacked](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1186145/Man-Utd-news-fans-demand-Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-sacked-AZ-Alkmaar-draw-Europa-League-news) by the club.

United lie 12th in the top flight as things stand – [15 points off top spot](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table) – and face a tough game this weekend when they welcome league leaders Liverpool to Old Trafford.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, who is currently [out of favour](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/10153574/allegri-mandzukic-can-man-utd-transfer-news/) in Turin under Maurizio Sarri, could also make the switch to Old Trafford should Allegri be appointed as first-team manager.

Here’s how United fans reacted to the news on Twitter:

> Get Big Sam in till the summer than sign Allegri. Please 🙏🏼🙏🏼
