# Manchester United: Fans react to transfer link for Declan Rice

**Loads of Manchester United fans have blasted the news the Red Devils are interested in West Ham’s Declan Rice, according to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/04/27/west-ham-braced-battle-keep-hold-declan-rice/).**

Football correspondent Matt Law reports Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keeping an eye on the defensive midfielder after he has impressed for David Moyes’ side this season.

The [West Ham United academy graduate](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/profil/spieler/357662) has made 29 appearances in the Premier League for the Hammers in this campaign, picking up 2 assists, making 3 tackles per game, averaging 2.1 interceptions, and making 1.4 clearances in the English top flight so far (via [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/332325/Show/Declan-Rice)).

However, United face stiff competition from Frank Lampard’s Chelsea for the 21-year-old’s signature, who are also in the running to sign Borussia Dortmund’s highly coveted winger, [Jadon Sancho](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/jadon-sancho-united-transfer-agreed-17369865).

Solskjaer intends to push forward with [a squad overhaul](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8261003/Paul-Pogba-Alexis-Sanchez-Jesse-Lingard-Man-United-deadwood-sold-on.html) in the summer, despite the uncertainty surrounding the transfer window in light of the ongoing pandemic, and it appears the England international is part of his future plans.

However, a whole host of the Old Trafford faithful criticised the transfer link to Rice, as one fan labelled him as “truly awful,” while another even added “Ole is a clown.”
