# Manchester United: Fans rocked by Scott McTominay injury and demand transfer action

**According to a huge report [from the Daily Mail,](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7838061/Manchester-United-suffer-huge-blow-key-man-Scott-McTominay-EIGHT-weeks.html) Manchester United could be set to miss out on the influence of Scott McTominay for eight weeks as he recovers from knee ligament damage sustained in the [4-1 win](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tnckGjvVsE&feature=onebox) against Newcastle United.**

The Scotsman, who has formed a [stellar partnership](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-utd-news-fred-mctominay-17482831) with fellow midfielder Fred over the last month, will now have to watch his teammates from the sidelines as he prepares rehabilitation to treat a serious injury. As per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/32/Show/England-Manchester-United), the Scotland international is the top scoring midfielder in the squad (3), as well as registering the most tackles per game of anyone outside of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, proving his worth in all areas of the game.

McTominay will also [miss huge encounters](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7838061/Manchester-United-suffer-huge-blow-key-man-Scott-McTominay-EIGHT-weeks.html) against Liverpool and the Carabao Cup semi-final two-leg tie against bitter rivals Manchester City – prompting supporters on social media to demand transfer action be taken.

Missing the youngster’s presence in midfield could, potentially, be detrimental for the Red Devils over this next month – but given January is here, this may be time to launch an attack on the transfer market for a replacement.

Here’s how United supporters appealed to the board on Twitter.
