# Manchester United: Fans slam duo Jesse Lingard and Luke Shaw after Arsenal display

**Responding to a [post by Utd Report](https://twitter.com/utdreport/status/1212472285212397573), Manchester United fans were asked how they can change things mid-way through the first half – with the overwhelming consensus being that duo Jesse Lingard and Luke Shaw needed to make way.**

The English pair both put in underwhelming performances as the Red Devils stumbled to their [second 2-0 defeat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjCBP6hGSg0) in four games, prompting supporters to blast the two players on social media after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta secured his first win as manager.

According to [WhoScored.com’s rating system](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376110/Live/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Arsenal-Manchester-United), Lingard amassed a dreadful 5.7 score while teammate Shaw didn’t fare much better with a 6.5.

As a result, Red Devils fans have been going in on the two players after seemingly woeful displays – especially given the fact Shaw failed to pick up Nicolas Pepe for the Gunners’ [opening goal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjCBP6hGSg0) inside the first few minutes.

Meanwhile, Lingard appeared fruitless in attack as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side attempted to bounce back.

Here’s what fans had to say on Twitter.

> Maguire – 80 million down the drain\
> JLINGZ – ghost\
> Shaw – Sunday league player

> Poor is an understatement. The coach should just remove Lingard for anybody I really don’t care who he brings in.

> Starting with Luke Shaw, he’s abysmal. United need to lower Lingard standard by selling him to Portsmouth. And the biggest disappointment is that fraud called Maguire 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️
