# Manchester United: Fans slam ‘useless’ board decision over Joel Pereira to Sporting Lisbon

**According to a report [from the Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/13/bruno-fernandes-keen-join-manchester-united-sporting-lisbon/), Manchester United attempted to offer goalkeeper Joel Pereira to Sporting Lisbon as part of their negotiations to sign Bruno Fernandes – with the offer eventually being turned down by the Portuguese club, prompting some Red Devils supporters to slam the [‘useless’](https://twitter.com/paynekila/status/1216831313241628674?s=21) bit of business.**

Fernandes, who has been [strongly linked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11907872/bruno-fernandes-wants-manchester-united-move) with a move to Old Trafford since the January transfer window opened and [beforehand](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-bruno-fernandes-latest-16515472), could be seen as a viable asset that can add much-needed quality to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield ranks. In comparison to current midfielders Fred and Jesse Lingard, the 25-year-old star eclipses them in terms of goals and assists – with Fernandes racking up an incredible 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions so far this season, [as per Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bruno-fernandes/leistungsdaten/spieler/240306).

While both Red Devils midfielders have bettered his pass completion rate, garnering an impressive [87%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/109000/Show/Jesse-Lingard) and [87.7%](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/114397/Show/Fred) league ratio respectively ([WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/123761/Show/Bruno-Fernandes)), it’s clear why supporters are desperate to see Fernandes put pen to paper judging by his brilliant return.

As a result, some supporters were livid with the club over reportedly trying to offer a goalkeeper in negotiations for his signature – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
