# Manchester United: Franck Kessie transfer links have Red Devils fans slamming AC Milan midfielder

**According to Sky Sports journalist [Gianluca Di Marzio via Utd Report](https://utdreport.co.uk/2020/01/23/bruno-fernandes-to-manchester-united-is-not-dead-yet/), the Red Devils have made a failed attempt to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie on loan – prompting many supporters to slam the news.**

Kessie, who has started [15 Serie A](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/277269/Show/Franck-Kessi%C3%A9) matches for Milan this season, is now being linked with a move away from the San Siro to Old Trafford if this report is to be believed – with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side potentially scouring the market in search of midfield back up.

Injuries to [Scott McTominay](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-united-injury-boost-scott-21348803) and [Paul Pogba](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-united-injury-boost-scott-21348803) have forced United to contemplate their strength in depth, with the Ivorian midfielder potentially being a stable back-up option judging by his stats. Indeed, compared to current midfield man Fred, Kessie has averaged a similar pass completion rate of 87.3% whilst also netting one more goal, [as per WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/277269/Show/Franck-Kessi%C3%A9).

However, the 23-year-old falls down in terms of tackles and interceptions, with Fred averaging superior rates of [2.1](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/114397/Show/Fred) and [1.5](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/114397/Show/Fred) in each regard respectively.

As a result, these supporters have been lamenting the thought of him signing at Old Trafford, with one fan labelling him “hopeless”:

> Disaster. Kessie stands out as a particularly bad player in a horrendous Milan team. Can’t pass. Can’t shoot. Can’t tackle. His positional play is poor. Actually sounds like he’d fit right in in this United team tbh.
