# Manchester United: Fred earns ‘outstanding’ plaudits from supporters for displays this season

**Responding to Micheal Carrick’s quotes via [Manchester United’s official Twitter](https://twitter.com/ManUtd/status/1229089825606832134), many Red Devils supporters have been lauding midfielder Fred’s displays this season – with a few of them suggesting he has been one of the players of the season so far.**

Fred, who has accumulated a 90% pass accuracy from inside his own half this season ([SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fred/243623), prior to this evening’s game against Chelsea) is currently one of the mainstays of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United side – starting [18 games](https://www.sofascore.com/player/fred/243623) so far this campaign alongside varying midfield partners.

Before teammate Scott McTominay’s injury, the pair formed a brief solid partnership in the middle of the park – with Fred having to play alongside the likes of Nemanja Matic and Andreas Pereira in his absence. However, the Brazilian has remained a key option for the Red Devils – with supporters acknowledging that fact on social media and hailing his ‘[outstanding’](https://publish.twitter.com/?query=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FBrianCastner%2Fstatus%2F1229090222408945665&widget=Tweet) displays this season.

Compared to Pereira, Fred has accumulated a superior amount of tackles (2) and interceptions (1.4), [as per WhoScored.com](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/114397/Show/Fred) – potentially outlining why he is consistently the favoured midfield man over his rotating teammates.
