# Manchester United: Hard for Harry Maguire to turn down ‘big lure’ of club, say pundits

**Harry Maguire could find it difficult to turn down the advances of Manchester United based on the calibre of the club alone, according to Tony Cascarino and Dean Saunders.**

Maguire has reportedly been the subject of talks between Leicester City and United – with the Foxes said to be holding out for £80m, according to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11770416/harry-maguire-ole-gunnar-solskjaer-wants-manchester-united-to-sign-leicester-defender-as-soon-as-possible).

The 26-year-old has enjoyed something of a rapid rise in English football, becoming a regular in the Hull City first-team during the [2016/17 season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-maguire/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/177907/plus/0?saison=&verein=3008&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) before a £12.3m move to [Leicester](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-maguire/transfers/spieler/177907) a year later as well as being part of England’s [World Cup squad](https://www.fifa.com/worldcup/teams/team/43942/) the following summer.

And with United expressing their interest in the centre-back, both Cascarino and Saunders agreed on [talkSPORT](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1156102370545360896) that the lure of a such a big club could be too good an opportunity to turn down for Maguire.

Cascarino said: “It’s very hard when your head gets turned by a club of the stature of Manchester United, full stop. Being a United player is another level.”

The Leicester defender [missed training](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/11772813/harry-maguire-misses-leicester-training-amid-manchester-united-interest) earlier this week – but any fears of Maguire throwing a tantrum and trying to force through a move were played down by Saunders – who claims to know his family well having coached his brother [Laurence](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/laurence-maguire/profil/spieler/338291) at Chesterfield.

He said: “I think the way he’s been brought up, I think he wouldn’t go down the route when you see Diego Costa, where he’s going ‘I’m not coming back training’ – I don’t think Harry Maguire would do that.

“There comes a point where I think United is a big lure for any player, no disrespect to Leicester.”

United may have been [bereft of success](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/erfolge/verein/985) lately, but their status as a ‘big club’ is surely not in any doubt – particularly considering their ability to lure the likes of [Paul Pogba](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37016170) and [Romelu Lukaku](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40550934) to Old Trafford for big money in recent years.

With Maguire reportedly stating a [desire to leave](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/11772813/harry-maguire-misses-leicester-training-amid-manchester-united-interest) the King Power Stadium, a move could still be on the cards – as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to prove those credentials once again.
