# Manchester United: Red Devils hope to sign Marcus Thuram in the coming weeks

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are favourites to sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram and are hoping to complete a transfer in the coming weeks.**

### The Lowdown: Lack of attacking options

Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Old Trafford has left [Erik ten Hag](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/erik-ten-hag/) with just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/kader/verein/985) out-and-out senior centre-forward on the books in Anthony Martial.

A new forward appears to be on the radar as a result, with links to the likes of Thuram and Atletico Madrid’s [Joao Felix](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/joao-felix-transfer-chelsea-fc-arsenal-man-utd-b1050379.html) emerging in recent weeks.

Thuram, described as [‘a little crazy’](https://bulinews.com/news/3832/denis-zakaria-praises-marcus-thuram-what-brings-pitch-phenomenal) by former team-mate Denis Zakaria, is out of contract with Monchengladbach at the end of the season, and it seems as if United are making their move over a potential winter window deal.

### The Latest: Big contract offer made

[Sports Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/favourite-man-united-trying-convince-club-sell-star-player-wants-pl-move-eth-likes-much/) relayed an update from [La Repubblica](https://www.repubblica.it/sport/calcio/mercato/2023/01/01/news/thuram_scatto_united_inter-381681914/) regarding Thuram in the last 48 hours. The report claims that Inter Milan have offered Thuram a four-year deal worth €5m-a-year plus bonuses, but they say that is lower than the proposal made by Old Trafford officials.

United are seen as ‘favourites’ for a transfer and are hoping to finalise an immediate January move in the coming weeks with Monchengladbach wanting a €15m fee.

### The Verdict: Fingers crossed

The club could really do with adding to their attacking ranks this month ahead of a busy second half of the season, and Thuram may well prove to be an ideal signing. The 25-year-old is valued at €32m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/profil/spieler/318528) and is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/profil/spieler/318528) a centre-forward who can even play out wide.

He has contributed to [13](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/profil/spieler/318528) Bundesliga goals in [15](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/profil/spieler/318528) appearances in recent months, so appears to be in fine form. The club could pip the likes of Inter Milan and Bayern Munich to a transfer, which would also add to the feel-good factor at Old Trafford.
