Manchester United are interested in Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The shot stopper nicknamed “the Wall of PSG” has entered the final year of his contract with the French champions.
Talks over a new deal have so far not progressed, and the French club are now closing in on the signing of a potential replacement in the shape of Lille’s Lucas Chevalier. Sky Sports has reported that Donnarumma is relaxed about his situation and has not ruled out the possibility of staying with the Champions League winners and competing with Chevalier.
United have now expressed interest in the 6’5 goalkeeper, and could register an official offer before the close of the window. Already regarded as one of the world’s best, Donnarumma saw his stock rise even more last season.
He played a crucial role in Paris St-Germain’s treble winning season, starring in the club’s Champions League Round of 16 shoot-out victory over Liverpool. He saved two penalties as PSG advanced to the quarterfinal before going the distance and winning the cup.
Donnarumma also grabbed five clean sheets in eight games at the Club World Cup this summer.
United keen on Donnarumma

United’s interest in Donnarumma casts further doubt on the future of Andre Onana at Old Trafford. Onana has had eight errors leading to goals since the start of 2023/24, more than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League.
He has come under increased scrutiny with many sections of the United faithful losing patience with the Cameroon international. Onana is currently with the United squad in the USA for their preseason tour, but is nursing a hamstring injury.
United were also linked with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez and Newcastle’s Nick Pope. So far no concrete bids have been sent by United for a goalkeeper as they focus their efforts on other areas of the squad.
After the marquee additions of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United are keen to add a central striker to their ranks and are linked heavily with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
