# Manchester United: Jack Grealish ‘number one target’ over James Maddison has supporters gushing

**According to a report from [the Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/1616000/2020/02/18/manchester-united-champions-league-grealish-sancho/), Manchester United have made Aston Villa star Jack Grealish their ‘[number one](https://theathletic.co.uk/1616000/2020/02/18/manchester-united-champions-league-grealish-sancho/)‘ priority target despite the midfielder potentially costing [£80 million](https://theathletic.co.uk/1616000/2020/02/18/manchester-united-champions-league-grealish-sancho/) if the Villans avoid relegation.**

Grealish, who has starred for the Midlands side this campaign, scoring seven goals and assisting six others from midfield over [24 starts](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/113069/Show/Jack-Grealish), has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils – and this report from [the Athletic](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-bent-rips-into-funny-newcastle-powerhouse-who-needs-to-have-a-look-at-himself/) has only heightened the rumours surrounding his exit.

According to the piece, United would have to pay £80 million to land Grealish if Villa avoid relegation – resulting in supporters jokingly praying they go down to get a cut-price deal on the English star. These fans have also insisted that Grealish be prioritised over Maddison, with stats showcasing exactly why.

Referring to [WhoScored.com,](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/113069/Show/Jack-Grealish) the Foxes playmaker, while level with Grealish in terms of shots per game ([2.3](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/113069/Show/Jack-Grealish)), fails to match his rate of completed dribbles ([2.4](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/113069/Show/Jack-Grealish)) – potentially hinting that United’s better option would be to look towards Grealish instead.

As a result, many Red Devils supporters are praying that their club acquire the 24-year-old – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.

> Grealish is a better player and creates more than Maddison. He also draws an insane number of fouls and is a leader with a strong mentality. Grealish over Maddison is a no-brainer for me.
