# Manchester United: Fans love Jose Mourinho’s comments surrounding Man City Champions League ban

**Responding to quotes from ex-boss [Jose Mourinho via journalist Richard Jolly](https://twitter.com/RichJolly/status/1229080233577525249), many Manchester United fans have swooned over his joke enquiry surrounding the club potentially being awarded the 2017/2018 Premier League title for finishing second as a result of Man City’s financial fair play saga.**

Mourinho, who guided Spurs to a dramatic [3-2 victory](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/20190153) away at Aston Villa on Saturday, spoke after the match regarding City’s two-year [Champions League ban](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/feb/14/manchester-city-banned-from-champions-league-two-seasons-ffp-uefa) – asking if United could potentially be awarded the 2017/2018 title for finishing second if the Sky Blues got a points deduction. Many reports have surrounded UEFA’s FFP punishment, with one of them [from the Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8008205/Manchester-Citys-Premier-League-title-2014-THREAT.html) indicating that they could get points deducted from previous title-winning seasons – leading to the Portuguese gaffer’s enquiry over the 2017/2018 title switch to Old Trafford.

Of course, even though this is very unlikely to happen, many Red Devils supporters have applauded the lighthearted wish regardless – taking to Twitter and voicing their love for the former United manager.
