Manchester United are reportedly 'still very much' on the trail of Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic ahead of the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Summer interest

The Premier League club reportedly held interest in signing the Croatian in the summer, but opted against signing a right-back in the end as Erik ten Hag started his rebuild of the squad.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will reportedly be allowed to leave in January, meaning that the Old Trafford outfit will need to bring in sufficient cover for Diogo Dalot, who is only just returning from the World Cup in Qatar after being knocked out in the quarter-finals after Portugal's defeat to Morocco.

The Latest: Still on the trail

Taking to Twitter, transfer expert Graeme Bailey dropped an update on Juranovic, revealing that United are 'still very much on his trail' ahead of January, adding that it would 'not be a shock' to see the defender leave Celtic.

Bailey tweeted: "Croatia right-back Josip Juranovic has enjoyed an excellent World Cup finals - would not be a shock to see him move in January. Man Utd looked in the summer at the Celtic man and are still very much on his trail. Chelsea and West Ham have also looked."

The Verdict: Wan-Bissaka replacement...

Should Wan-Bissaka leave United in January, Juranovic would certainly be an ideal replacement and would provide healthy competition for Dalot.

The right-back has been a mainstay in a Croatia side which has reached the World Cup semi-finals, impressively knocking out Brazil in the last eight, and the Hoops defender received widespread plaudits for his own performance in that game.

At Celtic, he has scored six goals and supplied three assists in 50 matches across all competitions over the last season-and-a-half, helping them to win the Scottish Premiership title last term, and they also appear well on their way to another one this time around (Transfermarkt).

Also, at 27 years of age, Juranovic is hitting his prime, so January presents an ideal opportunity for United to bring him to Old Trafford, especially if Wan-Bissaka goes.
