Some Manchester United fans have been left fuming at comments from John Murtough which have resurfaced.

Speaking to the club's fans' forum back in September (via The Independent), which has since been resurfaced by utdreport on their Twitter page, the Red Devils' football director said: “We believe that we've got the talent and the character within the squad to succeed. [We] need to keep control, don't get carried away, don't deviate from our plan. Ole and the staff are very focused on that.”

The comments have certainly left a bitter taste in the mouth for some members of the Old Trafford faithful, as they perhaps expected to be one of the main challengers for the Premier League title this season but instead lie in fourth spot after dropping points against the likes of Southampton, Aston Villa and Everton.

They have also crashed out of the Carabao Cup at home to West Ham United and lost their opening game of the Champions League group stage at Young Boys, matches that they should be expecting to win given the sheer strength of their squad and their summer investment.

These Man United supporters fumed as the comments from Murtough were shared on Twitter:

"Does he watch our games? Does he know we have a squad to win the Champions League and we are struggling at home against West Ham and Villa?"

"Yeah right. Are you referring to the talented passer of the ball Fred?"

"I wonder what the plan is. I personally think they're all not good enough to lead United as a club. Mediocre at best"

"Load of nonsense tbh. Everything he said is basics you expect at every single football club in the world. It’s copy and paste generic waffle. He should’ve outlined what he wants to achieve this season and next. Not just cop out by saying “we’ve got a plan”."
