It was a sobering end to the 2019/20 season for Manchester United as they lost in the Europa League semi-finals to Spanish side Sevilla.
It was a narrow defeat as they only lost 2-1 but the Premier League side will feel that they left it behind them as they had 20 shots in the game compared to Sevilla’s nine, per BBC Sport. Bruno Fernandes scored an early goal for the Red Devils as Marcus Rashford won a penalty, and it will be slightly worrying that the side were not able to score from open play.
Following the match, the Portuguese midfielder has posted on Instagram to discuss his first few months in England. He posted a picture of the United team, with a lengthy message for supporters of the club.
Part of the message will please United fans and also be a warning for opposition clubs in England’s top flight as he said: “It is now time for rest and to reflect so that we come back even stronger and reach the goals we set ourselves for the next season!
“Thank you to all my teammates and staff who welcomed me so well over these past months at the Red Devils. I hope to continue to learn and grow everyday with you, and that we conquer many titles in the future! Together we loose , together we make mistakes and together we grow ❤️ #MUFC”
Nonetheless, he is evidently determined to achieve even better things next season and will no doubt want to add to his impressive return of goal contributions. His determination to succeed should definitely excite United fans for the 2020/21 season after a fine start to life at Old Trafford.
