TalkSport contributor and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has demanded that Manchester United drop Wout Weghorst for their clash this weekend.

The Lowdown: January arrival

Weghorst joined on loan last month from Championship outfit Burnley, with the Dutch forward previously on loan at Besiktas earlier in the season.

The 30-year-old has played seven times in all competitions for United and netted in their League Cup tie against Nottingham Forest, though he's yet to score in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag has opted to play the striker from the start on every single occasion he's played in the league, averaging 69 minutes per game.

The Latest: Goldbridge calls for Weghorst axe

Goldbridge believes the club don't play to Weghorst's strengths and that he should be dropped for their trip to Leeds United

Speaking on The United Stand. he said: "Weghorst needs to be dropped. I like Weghorst, I think he's a really honest, hard-working player, but we don't play to his strengths. There's absolutely no doubt, that when you don't play to a player's strengths, you take him off and you play better. And we play better without Weghorst in the team.

"I think he's come in and given us an option, which we needed, but we're very different with Weghorst than we are with Martial, and we're very different when we put Rashford through the middle than we are with Weghorst.

"I think that Weghorst... we're almost playing with 10 men. Not because he's bad, but we're not utilising him."

The Verdict: Change it up

We believe that Ten Hag should look to change things up ahead of their Premier League game with Leeds.

Weghorst's goal return in a Man United shirt has been slightly underwhelming so far, so he could benefit from a substitute cameo against the Whites.

He can offer a direct option up front, with his imposing height a potential threat from attacking and defending set pieces.

Marcus Rashford can be played down the middle, and given he's been scoring for fun since the turn of the year, it's certainly an option that should be considered.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga are some of the options that could be deployed on the left in place of Rashford.

However, considering how often he's been called upon since his arrival, we expect Ten Hag to continue with the Dutchman as his man to lead the line.
