Manchester United have Paris Saint Germain defender Achraf Hakimi ‘on their list’ of transfer targets, according to Daily Star journalist Jacque Talbot.

The Lowdown: Wan-Bissaka alternative

Sky Sports have claimed that fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are interested in re-signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka on loan, so Erik ten Hag could be in the market for a new reinforcement at right-back.

Football Insider reported earlier this month that the Red Devils are working on a deal for the 23-year-old, who joined the French giants in a £60m move from Inter Milan last summer, with the Dutchman hopeful of bringing him to Old Trafford.

The Latest: Man Utd monitoring Hakimi

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Talbot stated that United are indeed targeting Hakimi, but believes that it might be difficult to get him to put pen to paper between now and Thursday night's transfer deadline.

He said: “Hakimi is someone Manchester United have on their list, but it would take a lot to get him over the line.”

The Verdict: Competition for Dalot

Diogo Dalot has been the first-choice right-back under Ten Hag since the 52-year-old's arrival at the Theatre of Dreams, but Hakimi would provide some excellent competition for places should he join in the next few days.

The Moroccan, who was dubbed a ‘beast’ by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, has clocked up 18 assists and 13 goals over the last two seasons with Inter and PSG (Transfermarkt), along with winning both the Serie A and Ligue 1 titles.

Hakimi would bring a wealth of attacking contributions in the final third, one area where Wan-Bissaka has very much underwhelmed in his three years at Old Trafford, and give Ten Hag a welcome selection headache at right-back for the rest of the season.
