Manchester United are thought to be in advanced talks with the agent of Goncalo Ramos ahead of a possible Old Trafford move.

The Lowdown: Ten Hag's a fan

Ramos has enjoyed a free-scoring season with Benfica, contributing to 32 goals in 34 games in all competitions. The 21-year-old has seemingly caught the eye of Erik ten Hag, with reports earlier in the year saying that the Red Devils manager loves the Portugal international and wants to bring him to England.

It looks as if Old Trafford officials are working on a possible transfer and appear to be making good progress.

The Latest: Transfer update

FourFourTwo relayed an update from Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha in the last 48 hours regarding Ramos and United.

They said that the Red Devils are in advanced talks with Ramos’ representative Jorge Mendes, with Benfica willing to sell in a deal worth €100m (£88.6m).

The Verdict: Good news

United could really do with a new marquee striker this summer and appear to have made one a priority alongside a new midfielder, so this update is certainly a positive one.

Ramos, labelled an "incredible talent" by journalist Jacob Schneider, has been in fine form and is still in the early years of his career, so could be the answer in Manchester both in the short and long run when it comes to the club's centre-forward ranks.

He’s now valued at a career-high €40m by Transfermarkt, but it seems as if United will have to pay more than double that figure to bring him to Old Trafford, potentially making him the club’s second-most expensive signing of all time behind Paul Pogba.
