Manchester United are eyeing a move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, according to talkSPORT.

The Lowdown: Raya set to leave

Raya appears to be at the top of his game with a career-high €22m Transfermarkt valuation and will be entering the final 12 months of his contract with the Bees in the summer.

The 27-year-old looks set to leave his current employers at the end of the season, though, with Fabrizio Romano saying the ‘keeper is waiting for a ‘big move’ after turning down two new contract proposals in London.

The Latest: Transfer update

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook shared an update on Raya and United in the last 48 hours.

He said that the Red Devils are monitoring the goalkeeper and are looking for competition to David de Gea. The Spaniard could end up replacing Dean Henderson, with the 25-year-old ‘unlikely to be welcomed back to Old Trafford when his loan at Nottingham Forest expires after criticising manager Erik ten Hag’.

The Verdict: Smart move?

Raya seems to be at the peak of his powers, so bringing him to Old Trafford to rival De Gea could be a great piece of business.

Hailed as ‘incredible’ by Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, Raya has comfortably outperformed De Gea this season, as per WhoScored, with an average match rating of 7.04/10 compared to De Gea’s 6.59/10.

The Brentford star has made more saves than any ‘keeper in the Premier League this season so his presence could prove handy next season, with United on course to be playing in four separate competitions once again.
