Reporter Dean Jones has been reacting to a pre-Arsenal update on Manchester United's new boy Antony.

The Lowdown: Five-year deal

The Red Devils made a move for the Brazilian official in the week, with the 22-year-old arriving at Old Trafford in a deal worth £86m.

Antony has penned a five-year deal with United but wasn’t able to make his first appearance for the club in the 1-0 win over Leicester on deadline day.

However, reports have suggested that he has now been cleared to make his full debut on Sunday, with Erik ten Hag’s side looking to end Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season.

The Latest: Jones reacts

Talking to GiveMeSport, Jones believes Antony’s availability could be ‘hugely significant’ and may ‘give United an edge’.

“It’s hugely significant, and it could give United an edge as they look to end Arsenal’s 100 percent run.

“No one expected them to beat Liverpool when they did, but with this as well as Casemiro set to play, you do wonder if there will be that same bounce about them as they look to cause an upset.”

The Verdict: From the bench?

United have found some much-needed form in recent weeks, with three wins on the bounce lifting them up the table.

Ten Hag has gone with the same starting XI in wins over Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester, with new signing Casemiro having to make do with a place on the bench at St Mary’s and the King Power.

Therefore, it could be best to name an unchanged team for the fourth game in succession, with Antony joining fellow countryman Casemiro on the bench and able to make an impact as a substitute, but it is certainly good news knowing he'll be able to feature.
