Manchester United: Dean Jones reacts to Dusan Vlahovic rumours
Transfer insider Dean Jones has been reacting to rumours regarding Manchester United and Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.
The Lowdown: United speculation
United officials appear to be planning for life without Cristiano Ronaldo after telling the 37-year-old he is free to leave in the New Year.
Vlahovic, who Jones has labelled as ‘ridiculous’, is thought to be on the radar at Old Trafford, with reports suggesting that the Red Devils are keeping an eye on the 22-year-old’s situation in Turin.
The Serbia international will be hoping to feature at the World Cup later this month, although he is currently suffering from an injury.
The Latest: Jones’ comments
Jones was talking to GiveMeSport regarding Vlahovic and a potential Old Trafford move. He said that it would be a ‘massive statement’ and ‘unbelievable’ if the Red Devils managed to pull off a deal.
“In terms of a fit for United, I think Vlahovic would be unbelievable, and it’d be a massive statement if they can convince someone of that level to come in.”
The Verdict: Spot on
Jones is right to be excited about a possible swoop for Vlahovic, with the centre-forward already scoring 77 senior goals for club and country.
He has netted 17 times in 36 appearances for Juventus and you’d expect he’ll only get better with age. Therefore, he could be the ideal addition to replace Ronaldo and could well transform Erik ten Hag’s side in the final third, possibly making a move one to watch in 2023.
