Manchester United are ‘working’ on a new deal for teenage attacker Alejandro Garnacho, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: De Jong a priority

Erik ten Hag is yet to make a marquee signing as United manager, with the Red Devils seemingly desperate to bring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has reportedly persuaded the 25-year-old to swap Spain for England, although the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee for the Dutch midfielder.

United’s first bid in the region of £60m has been turned down, although the club are also looking to tie up business elsewhere alongside a move for De Jong.

The Latest: Garnacho in talks with Man Utd

Romano took to Twitter on Saturday morning to share news on Garnacho and his Old Trafford future.

The transfer expert revealed that the club are ‘working’ on a ‘new deal’ for the Argentine, who is considered a ‘huge talent’. United are planning to offer the 17-year-old a five-year deal, with talks already underway between the two parties.

The Verdict: Good to see

Garnacho appears to be going from strength to strength at Old Trafford and already has two Premier League appearances to his name.

Capable of playing on either wing, the youngster was crucial in the club’s first FA Youth Cup triumph since 2011, contributing to 10 goals in six games.

He could well be the next big star to come through the club’s historic academy, so making sure he is tied down to a long-term deal appears to be a shrewd call by the board, along with backing Ten Hag with some marquee signings.
