Manchester United: Fans fume over Ed Woodward’s defence of Red Devils’ transfer business - Manchester United News

A number of Manchester United fans have been venting their frustrations over lengthy statements issued by Ed Woodward, which covered many aspects of the running of the club including their transfer business.

United endured a frustrating summer transfer window in which it was reported that they failed to sign any of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s four main transfer targets. Those included Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish, Nathan Ake and Dayot Upamecano, per ESPN.

The Red Devils did manage to go bring in the likes of Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Edinson Cavani to strengthen their first-team squad. However, it has still been a mixed start to the campaign with Tuesday’s 2-1 win at PSG coming after home defeats to Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.

Which player made the most appearances for Ferguson?

In a lengthy statement issued by Woodward, he touched on United’s transfer policy over recent years and issued a stern defence of their recruitment. He suggested that the Red Devils have spent ‘over €200 million’ since summer 2019, ‘more than any other major European club’, per Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst.

Lots of Manchester United fans were quick to point out that the reason why the net fees in the market are so high is because of poor recruitment in the past. With some suggesting it would be far lower if the club had been able to sell a number of their fringe players on large wages.
