Manchester United and the Glazers are confident of agreeing a world-record deal for a sports club, Football Insider report.

The Lowdown: Up for sale

The Red Devis released an official statement earlier in the week shortly after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit was confirmed, where they said the club are "exploring strategic alternatives", which includes Manchester United's potential sale.

Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer have been in charge at Old Trafford for 17 years, and their statement resulted in United's share price immediately rising by 17%.

The Latest: Takeover claim

FI reporter Pete O’Rourke shared an update in the last 48 hours regarding a potential takeover.

He said that the Glazers are looking for buyers who are prepared to pay £8 billion and are confident of a world-record deal.

The Verdict: Apple?

You’d expect that there will be plenty of takeover speculation in the weeks and months to come following the big update on Tuesday, with Apple named as a possible buyer.

Reports in the last 24 hours have claimed that bosses of Apple have already expressed an interest in a deal, with their net worth thought to be around £2trillion.

The technology giants don’t have any previous experience of running a football club, but some may see this as an extremely exciting rumour and one to potentially watch closely heading into 2023.
