Manchester United target Joao Felix reportedly wants to leave Atletico Madrid in the New Year.

The Lowdown: Felix bid

Felix, described as “outstanding” by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, was linked as an Old Trafford target over the summer.

Recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils made a €130m (£113m) offer for Felix over the summer. As we know, a transfer failed to materialise, but it looks as if a marquee move to England could still be on the cards heading into 2023.

The Latest: United alerted

Sports Witness relayed an update from Spanish outlet AS on Thursday regarding Felix. They claimed that the forward wants to leave the La Liga side in January, and if he fails, then next summer.

The report adds that United, along with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been alerted to the situation, with Old Trafford chiefs willing to tussle for the signing.

The Verdict: Ronaldo replacement?

A January exit for Cristiano Ronaldo has been mooted, and his actions in the week will only add fuel to the fire over a departure.

Therefore, Erik ten Hag may need to bolster his attacking ranks and may view Felix as a smart target. Still just 22, Felix already has plenty of experience at the highest level and can play in a variety of attacking roles.

However, the Portugal international has a €350m (£305m) release clause in his Atletico deal, and with two other European giants keen, it could be an expensive transfer for the Glazers to complete.
