Manchester United are set to ‘offer’ Marcus Rashford a new long-term contract ‘soon’, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Four extensions triggered

The Premier League giants recently triggered a one-year extension in the striker’s deal alongside Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Fred, taking the quartet all up until 2024.

The England international, however, has found a new lease of life since the arrival of Erik Ten Hag, starring for his country in Qatar and bringing that form back to club football, and it sounds like the Red Devils are therefore keen to further extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The Latest: Rashford set for new deal?

Taking to Twitter, Romano revealed that United have acknowledged Rashford’s transformation and want to table fresh terms to maintain his services.

“Marcus Rashford, completely changed under Erik Ten Hag. Fantastic numbers and clear improvement.

“Contract has been extended until June 2024 but Manchester United will meet his agents to offer new long-term deal soon. Ten Hag, ‘obsessed’ with MR as key part of project.”

The Verdict: Fully deserved

Rashford has most certainly regained his old form with Ten Hag at the helm and he would be fully deserving of being offered a new contract.

The 25-year-old has clocked up 14 goal contributions in 21 outings under the new boss this season and is currently averaging 2.3 shots per league 90 minutes.

The Red Devils are just one point outside the top four after a positive run of form and the forward will have a significant impact on his side’s push for the Champions League between now and the end of the campaign.
