Manchester United are reportedly considering a new takeover offer from Elliott Management, the former owners of AC Milan.

The Lowdown: Fans continue to protest

The Red Devils ended their six-year wait for a trophy on Sunday by lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley. Erik ten Hag’s side defeated Newcastle United 2-0, with Avram Glazer in attendance for the match.

United supporters continued to make their feelings known against the current owners during the game, though, chanting "we want Glazers out".

Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe both made bids for the club last month, and it looks as if another proposal is also on the table.

The Latest: New offer

The Daily Mail relayed an update from The Independent regarding a takeover at Old Trafford. They said that Elliott Management have put an offer on the table to take a 60% stake in the club, although the Glazers are hoping to knock them down to 40%.

It is also believed that ‘there is not full agreement among the siblings, with Joel and Avram Glazer desiring to either keep the club or keep a stake in the club’.

The Verdict: One to watch

It appears as if a potential takeover could be delayed until the summer, however, there seems to be a new name to keep an eye on in Elliott Management.

The ball remains in the Glazers’ court when it comes to a possible sale, and if they stick to their £6bn valuation, a takeover could prove complicated.

A deal at that price would make United the most expensive sports sale of all time, surpassing a $4.65billion takeover of the Denver Broncos last year, and there may well be more twists and turns over the coming days, weeks and possibly months.
