Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Paul Pogba is ready to prove he is one of the best players in the world, after making a successful return from injury ahead of the Premier League restart.

Pogba is available for selection for Man United's key clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night.

While the French World Cup winner hasn't played a competitive game of football since December, Solskjaer claims he is fully focused on helping the Red Devils reach the Champions League next season.

According to ESPN, Solskjaer told a news conference on Thursday "he has always had quality, Paul. He is one of the best midfielders in the world so hopefully we can get that going as soon as possible."

Earlier this week, January signing Bruno Fernandes teased fans by admitting it would be 'amazing' to play alongside Pogba before the Premier League showdown.

The Red Devils duo have been training together in recent weeks, but have been unable to link up in the midfield as Fernandes' arrival occurred while the Frenchman was recovering from injury.

Once again, Pogba has been subject to transfer speculation over the course of the season so far, amid interest from Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus and Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid.

Although the 27-year-old has only played 521 minutes of professional football up until now, he has still averaged 2.3 key passes per game (via WhoScored).

The Norwegian has previously been frustrated by a lack of creativity in the midfield, and if the two stars can align on the pitch, they may be able to lift United into the top four by the end of the season.

As it stands, Solskjaer's side are currently fifth in the league, and they travel to Spurs this week, knowing they must beat a side managed by Jose Mourinho if they are to keep their Champions League dreams alive.
