Manchester United have been 'offered' a summer move for Bayern Munich right-back Benjamin Pavard, with Chelsea also thought to be in the conversation.

The Lowdown: Pavard among Europe's best

The 26-year-old has matured into one of the best right-backs in Europe, producing consistently reliable performances for both Bayern and France.

Pavard made 24 starts in the Bundesliga last season and won the 2018 World Cup with Les Bleus, scoring a sensational goal in the last-16 victory over Argentina.

It could be that the Frenchman is allowed to leave Bayern this summer, however, and a fresh update claims United could be in line to snap him up.

The Latest: Man Utd linked with move

According to Sport1 [via Sport Witness], Pavard has actually been offered to both United and Chelsea, potentially leading to a tussle for his signature this summer. It is the Blues who are keener on signing him, though.

His future is described as 'open', although Bayern would demand a 'handsome transfer fee'.

The Verdict: Ideal Wan-Bissaka upgrade

Whether or not a deal for Pavard actually goes through remains to be seen, but he is someone who could be a perfect upgrade for Aaron Wan-Bissaka as United's first-choice right-back.

While not necessarily as flamboyant as someone like Trent Alexander-Arnold, the France man is technically gifted enough to serve the attacking role Erik ten Hag wants from his full-backs, hailed as 'wonderful' by Bayern legend Uli Hoeness and completing 88 per cent of his Bundesliga passes last season.

With Lisandro Martinez already coming in this summer, Pavard, ranked in the 99th percentile across Europe for passes from a right-back, would further sure up United's unconvincing defence, although Chelsea look to be favourites to get their man.
