Manchester United are one of several Premier League clubs who are hopeful of signing Cody Gakpo in January, according to transfer expert Jacque Talbot.

The Lowdown: Gakpo linked with summer move

The PSV Eindhoven star was a wanted man during the summer transfer window, having produced relentless end product for the Eredivisie giants.

United were one of those who were linked with signing Gakpo, as Erik ten Tag looked to rebuild his attack, eventually signing Antony from Ajax instead.

While the 23-year-old stayed put at PSV beyond deadline day, a January exit could now be on the cards.

The Latest: Fresh rumour emerges

Taking to Twitter on Thursday night, Talbot confirmed that United are one of three Premier League sides looking at landing Gakpo in the next window:

"Hear Man United, Southampton and Everton remain keen on PSV forward Cody Gakpo and a move is likely during the January transfer window. Club reps will keep tabs over World Cup. Dutch side want club-record fee."

The Verdict: Superb January option

Gakpo looks like a special young talent who could be a game-changing addition to United's attack, having been hailed as a player who 'has everything' by former midfielder Theo Janssen.

Incredibly, the Dutchman has already scored eight goals and added six assists in the league this season, in just seven appearances, and his pace and quality out wide could be lethal at Old Trafford.

With Antony now in the squad, and Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford showings clear signs of improvement, Gakpo could be the next part of the rebuild and ensure that Ten Hag has a hugely exciting attack for years to come.
